Mad Catz to Make Wireless and Wired Rock Band Instruments

Mad Catz will be manufacturing and distributing both wired and wireless peripherals for EA and Harmonix’s Rock Band music game. The company has an agreement with MTV Games to make guitars, microphones, and drums in both wired and wireless flavors. The new instrument controllers should arrive sometime before June.

Darren Richardson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mad Catz, said, “This agreement with MTV Games represents a natural opportunity for Mad Catz to combine our core competencies of producing and distributing high-quality accessories with the entertaining experience of Rock Band’s interactive controllers. The addition of the Rock Band license is consistent with Mad Catz’ stated goal to align ourselves with the most attractive brands and highly anticipated software releases while seeking additional accessory opportunities to further diversify and grow our revenue base.”

Mad Catz’ instrument controllers will be produced for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PS2. Four players can play together simultaneously in Rock Band using two guitar controllers, a drum kit and a microphone. MTV Networks and its development studio Harmonix have run into problems with Rock Band controllers since the game’s US release in November 2007.

According to Harmonix co-founder Alex Rigopoulos, Rock Band “takes the core promise of Guitar Hero and expands it tenfold.” Because there’s some financial clout behind this little venture, you’ll get the real deal: no more cover bands. Rigopoulos says, “We’ll be covering a great breadth, from metal to classic rock to Southern rock to everything in between.

Rock Band has been described as “a new platform for music fans and gamers to interact with music, challenging users to master the lead/bass guitar, drums and vocals as solo artists or cooperatively as part of their own band.”

According to Major Nelson’s blog, new tracks were released for Rock Band early in January. This is in addition to the budget-priced releases that also hit the PlayStation store. The new songs include:

1) Gimme Three Steps by Lynyrd Skynrd

2) Hard to Handle as made famous by the Black Crowes

3) Limelight as made famous by Rush

Twist the fibers into a single strand,,,
and fold it back over the cable the same way you would do the Core Conductor,
Try to get it approximately Opposite to core wire.

Many folks simply cut it off.

Folding it back over the cable make a stronger physical connection,and better reinforces the cable/end when tugging on it.

MY mig welder doesn't even attempt to feed the wire yet all is properly wired and connected, why?

It's a 240v welder, the feeder doesn't even kick on when pressing the torch trigger.

Bad switch in the handle. Bad feeder motor. Defective wiring. Could be any of these things.

How to Arc Weld and Stick Weld

Learning how to weld is not as hard as you might think.

All you have to do is simply follow a few basic steps, to get that welding down pat. It's like baking a cake or building a house. You need to follow a set way of doing things.

There are a few basic and easy to learn steps that you need to take into consideration before you even attempt how to stick weld or arc weld.

A lot of the time, people simply just rush in "guns blazing" and when they have a go at it half a dozen times and they can't do it, they give up. Listen, like I've said, Stick Welding might seem a bit daunting at first. But once you learn these basic steps on how to arc / stick weld the whole process will become a lot clearer to you.

How do I know? I've been there and done that. I know how hard it can be to learn how to stick weld for a person who has never welded before in their life. Often the first timer will make a few silly mistakes that can spoil their first time stick or Arc Welding experience.

Things like:

• How to strike an arc and keep it going. This is a big issue for anyone who is learning how to stick weld. How do I do it? Why does it keep sticking to the job?

• What size Welding Electrode should I use?

• What type of welding electrode should I use?

• What about welding safety. What should I be aware of when welding? What will hurt me and put me at risk of injury? If you are new to welding, you might not be aware of what to look out for.

• Which way do I move the electrode?

• What power setting should I set my machine at?

All these and many more questions are what the DIY'er or learner welder need to find out.

What electrode i will use for welding between Ductile iron and Carbon steel pipes?

I don't know what your exact needs are, however, my recommendations are based on my past experience.

It might be best to have an engineer review your situation to make sure this joint design and the mismatch in material types will be safe during operation.

You might want to try a 308 rod. The iron pipe should be warmed slightly with a torch to get rid of any moisture. Make narrow stringer passes. After each pass you need to peen the weld (hit it repeatedly with the end of your Chipping Hammer) to help relieve stress. It can be time consuming, but it works. I've used 308 rod when welding broken castings and it works fine.

The 308 rod is actually meant for T-304 stainless welds but it was suggested by my welding supplier years ago and it works.

JB Weld on transmission oil cooler line(?)?

i was changing out the starter on my 4runner, long story short, cable from the battery arced out on transmission oil cooler line(?)(line from transmission to radiator) and made a hole in it. will jb weld work on it? how much pressure is on that line?(out of the radiator it connects to a hose with a clamp, off transmission it has a fitting)

John is on the right track, but a split hose will leak.

Take a tubing cutter, and cut the tube. Put a piece of hose between the cut ends and secure with hose clamps.You may want to use a longer piece of hose, and double clamp it, but that will fix your problem.

Plastic Welding SAFETY

PLASTIC WELDING SAFETY

• Work area should well ventilated. You may want to weld in the garage due to some plastics do have an odor to them. When welding them.
• Remember the Plastic Welder- is very hot it can burn you or start a fire. So you must be careful when using your plastic welder.
• 1. So don't touch the barrel or the tip of the welder with your hand. When welder is hot.
• 2. Don't have any combustibles laying around your work area as they may catch on fire.

• Keep your work area clean. (papers, wood, gas can's, put everything away that you think could catch on fire or melt. If the welder would come in contact with it.)
• When using the plastic welder make sue that the plastic welder rest is set up and you are able to use it. This will be usefull if you have to move the part that your working on around.
• Have all your tools that you will be using set up and ready for you when needed.

Plastic welder with stand

Welding Rods that you will be using to weld with.

wire mesh if needed (this is used for added strength of the weld.

plastic parts cleaned and ready  to weld.(you can clean the parts with soap and water)

• Now when your finished welding

Put the welder on stand and turn it off. Then let the welder cool down.

Let the plastic item that was just welded cool down.

Put all your welding rods back up and if the welder is cool. Put the welder and stand back up also.
